October at ReCo

It’s time to start making a plan to vote and to help others do the same. For those in North Carolina, key dates for the upcoming election are coming up.

Voter Registration Deadline

October 9

To vote on Election Day, you need to register by this date. If you miss the deadline, you can still register and vote during early voting.

Early Voting Starts

October 15

Early voting runs through 3 p.m. on October 31. You can vote at any early voting site in your county. If you still need to register, you can register and vote at the same site.

NC Election Protection Hotline

Democracy North Carolina’s nonpartisan voter hotline is available throughout the year. Call or text 888-OUR-VOTE (888-687-8683) with questions about registering or voting in North Carolina, or to report voting problems.

A clear rigid clamshell mistakenly placed in a pink Crinkly Packaging bag during sorting

Your Sorting Helps Our Sorting

Crinkly Packaging vs. #1 Plastics

We hand-sort the materials you send us. Doing your best to put things in the right bag makes our sorting easier.

Mistakes happen, and we do the final sorting! This clear clamshell is a helpful reminder that flexible packaging and rigid containers go in different bags.

Pink Crinkly Packaging bag

Thicker, “crunchy” plastic that flexes but holds its shape and tears instead of stretching.

Think chip and snack bags, candy and granola bar wrappers, coffee bags and frozen-food packaging.

Blue #1 Plastics bag

Optional add-on bag: Clear, rigid PET/PETE #1 containers shaped like a box or clamshell.

Think berry, produce, salad and bakery containers.

School & Office Supplies Update

School & Office Supply Month is especially fun to sort because we can see things getting another life!

Your supplies are staying useful with Durham Public Schools teachers and The Scrap Exchange Reuse Arts Center.

That’s community circularity. Things from your home find a use nearby instead of becoming waste.

Almost Anything Mailback

Not in our local pickup service area? You can still recycle with us by mail.

Almost Anything Mailback is available to households within 500 miles of our Durham warehouse and accepts 30+ hard-to-recycle materials.

Almost Anything Mailback bag tracking and sorting feedback

After you send a bag, you can follow its shipping and processing status, then see your top recycled materials and any items that should not have been included after sorting.
