Return Your Bag
Use the prepaid shipping label from your kit, then drop the bag with USPS or schedule a free pickup from your home. The ReCollective takes care of the rest.

Since launching in September 2022, The ReCollective has processed more than 50,000 bags through doorstep pickup in the Raleigh-Durham area and our Almost Anything Bag mailback program.
We provide mailback service within a 500-mile radius of our Durham, North Carolina warehouse, reaching communities across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Keeping shipments closer to home helps reduce transportation impact and supports a more regional circular economy.

How do I know my stuff gets recycled or reused?
Yes! That’s the beauty of the Almost Anything Bag. Once we receive it at our Durham, NC facility, our team carefully sorts everything into the appropriate waste streams for local recycling and reuse.
How big is the Almost Anything Mailback Bag?
Each bag measures 19 inches by 14.5 inches—compact enough for mailing, but roomy enough to hold a surprising range of hard-to-recycle items.
What materials can go in the bag?
A lot! You can include plastic film, textiles, styrofoam, crinkly packaging, kitchenware, wine corks, office supplies, toys, and more. For the full list of accepted items, visit therecollective.co/aamaterials.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes—please keep each filled bag under 10 lbs to ensure safe and efficient handling.
How do I return my filled bag?
Request a prepaid shipping label included in your kit to send it back via USPS.
Where can I get a bag?
- Live outside the Triangle, NC but within 500 miles? Order online and we’ll ship the kit to your door.
- Live in the Triangle? Pick one up at a participating local retailer.
Where is mailback service available?
Mail-back is available to households within 500 miles of Durham, NC. This helps reduce shipping emissions and supports local circularity.
What are the bags made of?
Our mailback bags are made with 50% post-consumer waste and 50% recycled resin. Once received, the bags themselves are recycled via our LDPE waste stream.
Are there any materials I should not include in the bag?
Yes, there are a few important restrictions to comply with regulatory and safety requirements:
- No electrical devices
- No lithium batteries
- No CFL or other glass lightbulbs
- No sharp objects
- No items not listed on the accepted materials page
Are there limits on what types of batteries I can include?
Yes—you may only include up to 10 AA or AAA alkaline batteries per bag.
