Learn your local recycling rules
Recycling rules can differ between neighboring communities and may change over time. Before placing an unfamiliar item in your curbside cart, check your local government’s official waste guide.

Where are plastic clamshells recyclable?
The answer depends on where you live. Here is the current Triangle curbside comparison used in our clamshell guide.
Clamshell collection is an add-on service because local curbside rules vary. Some ReCo members can recycle #1 clamshells through their city, while others do not have a curbside option. Keeping it optional means members only pay for the service when they need it.
Use the blue add-on bag for accepted clear #1 PET/PETE clamshells.

June plant pots
June’s bonus ReCo Pick brought in quite the crop of plant pots! After sorting them at our Durham warehouse, we sent reusable pots to The Scrap Exchange for another life. The remaining pots headed to the NC Farmers Market for recycling.

The small things found a new home
The rubber bands, bread tags, twist ties, silica packets, and clothing buttons collected through July’s ReCo Pick were taken to The Scrap Exchange for reuse.

A baler for ReCo
Our warehouse is scaling up so we can recycle more materials for more households! Our new baler compresses bulky Plastic Film and Crinkly Packaging into compact, stackable bales, helping us save space and send larger, partner-ready loads as ReCo grows.
