The ReCollective wants to help with as many hard-to-recycle materials that your home deals with, but not everything piles up on a regular basis. For these materials, we’ve offered an Add-On option to our ReCollective members. These add-on materials include expired or unused prescription drugs, paper to be shredded and recycled, latex paint, and fluorescent tube lightbulbs. To add any of these items to your next pickup, go to the shop of the Member Dashboard.

Please add any add-ons to your member dashboard by 5pm the day before your pickup. Set out your add-ons next to the waterproof bag containing the canvas bags. We’ll do the rest and ensure these items get properly recycled.

Select Shop from your Member Dashboard.

Why Recycle it? Recycled paper use saves resources and reduces the paper industry’s impact on the planet.

Expired Prescriptions

  • $10 per mailer
  • Due to regulations on prescription drugs, you will be required to put them in the mail yourself.

Why Recycle it? Unused drugs that are flushed or landfilled can contaminate the groundwater. Additionally, storing unused or expired drugs can potentially lead to accidental poisoning, overdose, or abuse.

Fluorescent Tubes

  • $4 per 2’ or 4’ tube
  • Not accepted: broken tubes

Why Recycle it? Phosphor, which is present in fluorescent tubes, is toxic. Light bulbs contain valuable metals, glass, and other materials that can be separated

Latex Paint

  • $4 per gallon
  • Not accepted: oil-based paints and aerosols

Why Recycle it? Recycling your paint ensures that compounds like VOCs are disposed of safely and don’t enter local ecosystems and groundwater.

Reco Question Answered: Why do you charge extra fees for certain items like fluorescent tubes and latex paint?

Our partners charge higher fees and we incur higher distribution costs to manage these materials. Charging extra fees for these items helps us keep our core service cost low.
