Announcement from ReCo!

At ReCo, we’re all about making recycling and reuse easier! As a small, community-driven recycling and reuse service, we’re proud to be locally operated and committed to promoting local circularity and making a positive impact in our neighborhoods. Despite the challenges of building this service from scratch over the past two years, we remain steadfast and dedicated to growing and becoming a lasting part of the community. Today, ReCo has almost 500 members, a testament to the collective commitment to sustainability.

Each month, our members can recycle 7+ different hard-to-recycle materials, totaling over 26 unique materials annually—all with a focus on reuse. Our reusable bags make it all possible!

To better serve our community and members, we are making four exciting changes to our service offerings:

1. #5 Plastics Return! Starting in August, #5 plastics will be a regular pickup option. More details will be provided later this month.
2. New Pricing for #1 Plastics/Clamshells: We recently introduced #1 Plastics/Clamshells as an add-on service. Since some members can recycle these curbside while others cannot, we’ve made this an optional add-on to keep membership fees low. To improve accessibility, we’re lowering the cost to $4 per bag or $2 per bag for a 5-pack! 
3. ReCollective OneStop Food Scrap Pickup Expansion: We offer food scrap pickup as an optional add-on to our hard-to-recycle memberships (ReCollective OneStop). Since we’re already at your residence, we pass the savings on to you. Food scrap pickup starts at just $21/month! Our food scrap service zone has expanded to include Raleigh, Durham, most of Cary, and most of Chapel Hill. Twice a year, you can choose between receiving nutrient-rich compost or a free specialty recycling service! Our flexible service options also allow you to pick the best week for your Hard-To-Recycle items, which remains a monthly service, while food scraps can be picked up either twice monthly or weekly. Existing members can add OneStop service to their Hard-To-Recycle membership in the Member Dashboard Shop.
4. Expanded Refill Solutions with Fillaree: We are expanding our Refill Solutions with Fillaree to include more varieties of Soaps and Suds, Dish Soap, and Clean Dream Spray. Refill all your home dispensing bottles until your refill is empty. Give it a quick rinse, save the pump for the future, and put it out with your ReCo pickup for reuse at the Fillaree! Based in Durham, NC, Fillaree provides eco-friendly, refillable bath and cleaning products that reduce waste and promote a circular economy.
