Please put Clamshells in your ReCo Pick Bag in August!

Clamshells are commonly used as fruit containers, egg cartons, salad containers, and takeout containers. You may have several in your fridge right now! Clamshells are typically made of a plastic called Polyethylene-terephthalate (abbreviated as PET) with a #1 recycling symbol. Many municipalities will not accept clamshells as the lightweight material is hard to sort and separate.

What is included? CLEAN, FOOD-FREE clamshells.

Where is it going? The ReCollective will repurpose some of these clamshells with local farmers and art teachers from the Triangle and will then recycle the rest.

The ReCollective is taking clean loose or packaged Baby Diapers as a bonus pick in August. Please put the Diapers in your own bag and place it inside your larger black waterproof bag. Do not put the Diapers in the canvas ReCo Pick bag.

What is included? New and clean loose baby diapers/pull-ups, new packaged baby diapers/pull-ups, and all sizes.

Where is it going? The ReCollective is partnering with the Diaper Bank of North Carolina.

The Diaper Bank of North Carolina’s mission is to ensure families in poverty with babies and children have enough diapers with the aim to create a diaper distribution model that can be adopted and shared by all counties in the state. The Diaper Bank has distributed over 23 million diapers state-wide with branches in the Triangle, the Greater Triad, and Lower Cape Fear Region.

REMINDER: YES, you may Share your bag capacity — Your friends, family, and neighbors can put materials in your ReCo bags. The one exception we do ask of this is Batteries / Lightbulbs since these are the most complex items for our team to manage. Feel free to Share your bag capacity for Plastic Film, Textiles, Styrofoam, ReCo Picks, and more!

So, help your friends ReCollect those Clamshells and Diapers too!

Get ready for the upcoming ReCo Picks! Reminder: the main item goes in your ReCo Pick bag. The Bonus item is typically ‘bring your own bag.’ More information about each upcoming ReCo pick is distributed the month before the pick-up.
