Millions of mailers—padded envelopes, poly mailers, and bubble mailers—end up in landfills after just one use. These materials are hard to recycle due to mixed components but can still be reused. Giving mailers a second life reduces waste, lowers the demand for new production, and cuts down on energy and resource use. The ReCollective repurposes used mailers for local shipping stores, helping businesses save on packaging costs while promoting sustainability.
Mailers should be placed in the ReCo Pick Bag during designated months.

What not to include:
❌ No heavily damaged mailers or envelopes with exposed padding.
❌ Cardboard envelopes should be recycled curbside.
The ReCollective makes it easy for members to reuse mailers. Here’s how:
- Keep Only Usable Mailers – No major tears or excessive tape.
- Remove Labels – Peel off, black out, or cover any shipping labels.
- Flatten & Stack – Store mailers neatly and bundle them together.

Your mailers are brought back to our Durham, NC warehouse, where they are sorted into categories and then distributed to our community partners.
