Join The ReCollective and Triangle Ecycling in supporting NC Conservation Network! Learn More.

The ReCollective partners with Triangle Ecycling to Repurpose and Recycle E-Waste. Please put Electronics in your ReCo Pick Bag for October.

What is included? All computer and computer-related equipment. All audio, video, and telephone equipment. All electric small appliances. All cords and wires. Everything working or not working condition.

What is NOT included? Tube TVs, Printers, and Monitors. Anything that is sharp or has broken glass. Media (VHS, CDs, DVDs). Electronics that don’t fit in the ReCo Bag.

For this ReCo Pick, Triangle Ecycling will donate $15 to NC Conservation Network for each laptop ReCollected by our members in October! That includes any laptop – working or not working, very old or not very old, and Windows or MacBook.

Please keep it to a maximum of 4 laptops per member to limit the weight burden on our team.

Triangle Ecycling’s mission is to make Durham smarter, cleaner, and more equitable through technical education internships, computer refurbishing, e-waste recycling (140 tons in 2022!), and donating computers to nonprofits and students in need.

For October, The ReCollective is doing a bonus material, used Printer Cartridges, which will go to Dazz-Cycle in Apex, NC, for recycling.

We are accepting the following cartridges:

  • Cartridges that accommodate a computer printer – laser or inkjet
Once-used OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) genuine cartridges
  • No copy machine toners
  • No generic or “off” brands. The best way to determine if a cartridge is a genuine OEM cartridge is to look at the sticker on the cartridge. The cartridge must have an HP, Lexmark, Dell, etc. logo on the label.
  • No cartridges which have already been refilled. When a label refers to “for use in” or “compatible with,” it has already been refilled.

Please put the cartridges in your own bag that is sealed or tied shut to prevent ink from spilling on your ReCo bags. Place your printer cartridge bag in the black waterproof bag.

REMINDER: YES, you may Share your bag capacity — Your friends, family, and neighbors can put materials in your ReCo bags. The one exception we do ask of this is Batteries / Lightbulbs since these are the most complex items for our team to manage. Feel free to Share your bag capacity for Plastic Film, Textiles, Styrofoam, ReCo Picks, and more! So, help your friends ReCollect those Electronics (& Laptops) and Printer Cartridges too!

Get ready for the upcoming ReCo Picks!

Reminder: the main item goes in your ReCo Pick bag. The Bonus item is typically ‘bring your own bag.’ More information about each upcoming ReCo pick is distributed the month before the pick-up.
