Light Bulb Recycling With The ReCollective

The ReCollective Recycles Light Bulbs

Incandescent bulbs, while not hazardous, contain materials such as tungsten and glass that can be reclaimed and reused. Fluorescent bulbs, including compact fluorescents, contain small amounts of mercury, so proper disposal and recycling are crucial to prevent toxic contamination. Unfortunately, less than 30% of light bulbs are currently recycled. That’s where The ReCollective steps in!

At The ReCollective, we recycle light bulbs across the Triangle, NC, including Durham, Raleigh, Cary, and Chapel Hill, as well as through our Almost Anything Bag Mailback program. Light bulbs are collected 4 months out of the year in addition to our other core hard-to-recycle materials.

How Does The ReCollective Recycle Light Bulbs?

We partner with Batteries Plus. Light bulbs are sent to facilities where metals and chemicals are recycled, and harmful materials are properly disposed of.
