The ReCo Pick for January is Seasonal Decorations with Bonus Empty Pill Bottles! That’s in addition to all the other materials we regularly accept.

Give those used Holiday Decorations a new life! For January, The ReCollective is taking Seasonal Decorations in your ReCo Pick Bag. These items will be donated to community organizations for reuse and creative uses.

What is all included? We accept decorations for all holidays! You can include ornaments, tabletop decorations, wall hangings, string lights, fixtures, etc.

What is NOT included? Broken or sharp items. Except, we WILL TAKE broken string lights.

Did you know that less than 3% of polypropylene, recycling #5 symbol, is recycled in the US?

The ReCollective is taking EMPTY AND CLEAN prescription pill bottles as a BONUS pick in January. Please put the pill bottles in your own bag (no larger than a standard grocery-size bag) and put it inside your waterproof bag. Do not put the pill bottles in your canvas ReCo Pick bag.

Please follow these guidelines-

  • The bottles must be CLEAN AND EMPTY.
  • The bottles must be labeled with a recycling symbol #5.
  • If you have the cap, please put it back on the bottle.
  • Black out or remove any personal information on the bottle. The ReCollective is NOT responsible for ensuring personal information is removed from bottles

REMINDER: YES, you may Share your bag capacity — Your friends, family, and neighbors can put materials in your ReCo bags. The one exception we do ask of this is Batteries / Lightbulbs since these are the most complex items for our team to manage. Feel free to Share your bag capacity for Plastic Film, Textiles, Styrofoam, ReCo Picks, and more! So, help your friends ReCollect Seasonal Decorations and Empty Pill Bottles too!

Get ready for the upcoming ReCo Picks! ReCo Picks are in addition to all the other materials the ReCollective takes each month

IMPORTANT UPDATE: We are adjusting our March ReCo Pick! For March, please put plastic containers marked with a #5 symbol in your ReCo Pick Bag. This includes containers and lids like yogurt, butter tubs, takeout containers, disposable cups, medicine pill bottles, and more! ReCo is piloting the collection of polypropylene (recycling symbol #5) to assess if we should make this material part of our regular collection. We will send a brief survey after the collection to capture your feedback. Polypropylene collected during the pilot will be recycled.

Reminder: the main item goes in your ReCo Pick bag. The Bonus item is typically ‘bring your own bag.’ More information about each upcoming ReCo pick is distributed the month before the pick-up.
