Don’t let that metal hardware that has been sitting around at your house for years go to waste!

For February, The ReCollective is taking Scrap Metal in your ReCo Pick Bag. This is in addition to all the other materials we regularly accept!

What is all included? Solid metal items such as keys, pots/pans, pipes/valves, electrical wire, cans, rims, door/cabinet handles, hinges, bolts/screws/nuts/washers, and faucets.

What is NOT included? Items with mixed materials such as metal and plastic like some kitchen utensils or many types of e-waste. Devices that have at any time contained oil or gas or other hazardous liquids. Items that don’t fit in the ReCo Pick bag.

Note in the Pocket provides quality clothing to homeless and impoverished children and families with dignity and love. Their new Durham location just opened this month! This expansion will help clothe thousands more children and families across the Triangle region!

In February, The ReCollective is taking gently used clothing and shoes of all sizes (infant-adult) to help stock the new Durham location. This is a great time to clean out those boxes of kid clothes some of you may have in your closets. Please place all donations in a separate sealed bag (not in your textile bag!). This will ensure the ReCo team can easily identify the donations.

Please follow these guidelines for the Note in the Pocket donation-

  • Only gently used clothing and shoes, please. The more worn items should go in your textile bag.
  • All sizes are accepted, but Note in the Pocket is in highest need of these items.
  • Place all donations in a separate sealed bag (not in your textile bag!). You may set this beside your black waterproof bag for pickup.
  • The donation bag should be no larger than 45 gallons to ensure the ReCo team can manage all the pickups.

Do you have a closet full of those cheap reusable plastic or cotton bags that so many businesses freely hand out? ReCo can help you out and put them to good use! We are taking reusable bags as a Bonus item in February! ReCo works with local retailers and businesses who can use these bags!

Please follow these guidelines-

  • Please take one of the reusable bags and then stuff the rest of them in this bag. You may set this beside your black waterproof bag for pickup.
  • Polyester/plastic, canvas, and cotton bags are acceptable.
  • Do not put the reusable bags in the ReCo Pick bag.

REMINDER: YES, you may Share your bag capacity — Your friends, family, and neighbors can put materials in your ReCo bags. The one exception we do ask of this is Batteries / Lightbulbs since these are the most complex items for our team to manage. Feel free to Share your bag capacity for Plastic Film, Textiles, Styrofoam, ReCo Picks, and more!

So, help your friends ReCollect Scrap Metal and Reusable Bags too!

Get ready for the upcoming ReCo Picks! ReCo Picks are in addition to all the other materials the ReCollective takes each month
Reminder: the main item goes in your ReCo Pick bag. The Bonus item is typically ‘bring your own bag.’ More information about each upcoming ReCo pick is distributed the month before the pick-up.
