With every pan or kitchen gadget, there is a time to give it up. Don’t toss it in the trash! Many of these items can be reused or can contain valuable metal and plastics that can be recycled!

For December The ReCollective is taking used kitchenware in your ReCo Pick Bag. This includes things like flatware, plates, bowls, pots, utensils, measuring cups, and mixing spoons. We’ll even take that scratched Teflon frying pan that has been sitting in the cabinet for years.

What is NOT included? Anything that can easily break such as thin glass should not be included.

Where is it going? We partner with local community organizations as well as GreenZone to reuse and recycle.

Did you know that plastic toys account for 90 percent of new toys sold, and 80% of all toys end up in the landfill, incinerators, or the ocean?

The ReCollective is taking used toys as a BONUS pick in December. Please put the toys in your own bag (less than 30 gallons) and set it beside your waterproof bag. Do not put the toys in your ReCo Pick bag.

Where are the toys going? We partner with local community organizations as well as GreenZone to reuse and recycle.

As we re-imagine our lifestyles, consider these tips for toys-

  • Buying second-hand toys
  • Buying sustainable and non-plastic toys
  • Sharing toys with friends and family. A local Triangle company, Tiny Earth Toys, rents age-based, plastic-free toys!

REMINDER: YES, you may Share your bag capacity — Your friends, family, and neighbors can put materials in your ReCo bags. The one exception we do ask of this is Batteries / Lightbulbs since these are the most complex items for our team to manage. Feel free to Share your bag capacity for Plastic Film, Textiles, Styrofoam, ReCo Picks, and more! So, help your friends ReCollect Kitchenware and Toys too!

Oops! We planned to pickup yard signs just in November, but some of our November pickups were before the election. So we are extending yard sign pickups through December!

Get ready for the upcoming ReCo Picks! ReCo Picks are in addition to all the other materials the ReCollective takes each month

Reminder: the main item goes in your ReCo Pick bag. The Bonus item is typically ‘bring your own bag.’ More information about each upcoming ReCo pick is distributed the month before the pick-up.

Here is a quick explanation for the new addition of March to the schedule : ReCo is taking non-toxic cleaning supplies. These can be partially used (half filled or more) or unopened. We are also taking hygiene products as a bonus pick (bring your own bag). This includes unopened shampoo and soaps, even those travel-size hotel bottles/soaps!
