The Triangle’s First Hard-to-Recycle Pickup Service Brings Solutions Right to Your Door

The ReCollective announces the start of service in the Triangle, bringing hard-to-recycle pickup service directly to households. The ReCollective collects hard-to-recycle items such as plastic bags and film, Styrofoam, clothes and other textiles, batteries, light bulbs, latex paint, small electronics, used kitchenware, and more. Instead of being landfill-bound, The ReCollective ensures reuse or recycling of these materials in transparent and responsible ways. The streamlined process eliminates clutter from homes and does the leg work so that common household materials make it to a new life, rather than a landfill!

The Easy Way to Waste Less

ReCollective recycling process

When household stuff is thrown away without being given a second chance, our environment suffers. Our typical recycling programs can only take so much. The ReCollective believes there is an urgent need for innovative and sustainable solutions to close this gap and help households recycle and reuse more. The ReCollective  collects materials that have historically had low recycling rates. These materials are then sorted, packaged, and supplied to local businesses and community organizations for recycling or reuse.

The ReCollective members receive reusable canvas collection bags and a large waterproof bag for collection day. Members place hard-to-recycle materials in these bags throughout the month. On the designated collection day, The ReCollective picks up the filled canvas bags from the waterproof bag at the member’s doorstep and leaves clean canvas bags for the next month. Materials then get a second life and members can rest easy knowing their stuff is saved from the landfill! The ReCollective  is committed to convenience, transparency, and advocacy to empower members and the community to reduce waste and make better choices.

The ReCollective is now open for signups and operates in most areas of the Triangle of NC (Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Cary, and more!). First pickups begin in September. Membership starts as low as $15/month.
