Please Place Non-Perishable Food in Your ReCo Pick Bag This November!
Clean out your pantry for a good cause! By donating
non-perishable food items,
you’re not just clearing space, but also helping feed neighbors. Your contributions can turn pantry
surplus into support for families and individuals facing food insecurity.
Unopened, non-perishable foods of all kinds:
✅ Canned goods (beans, vegetables, tuna)
✅ Grains (rice, pasta, oats)
✅ Legumes (dried lentils, chickpeas)
✅ Condiments and sauces (peanut butter, ketchup)
✅ Baking ingredients (flour, sugar)
✅ Cereals (breakfast cereal, granola)
✅ Snacks (crackers, nuts)
✅ Powdered foods (powdered milk, instant coffee)
Not included: Perishable foods, expired food, or opened food.
At The ReCollective, we partner with local organizations, including
North Durham Mutual Aid
and the
Feed Durham Organization,
to donate food and support our community.
The ReCollective Members Donate Wrapped Candy
Turn your excess candy
into a sweet contribution for community organizations. We’ll help direct it where it can do
the most good.
What to include: Wrapped Halloween-type candy of all kinds.
What not to include: Opened, expired, or perishable candy.
How to prepare: Place your wrapped candy in a grocery-sized (or smaller) bag and put that
bag inside your larger black ReCollective bag for pickup.
ReCollective Members Can Donate Supplies to Local Food Justice Organizations
You can donate
freezer packs, clean takeout containers, and insulated grocery bags
to support food pantries and community fridges. These small items help keep food safe and get it to people
who need it before it spoils.
We gladly accept the following clean, reusable items:
✅ Freezer packs
✅ Clean takeout containers (with lids, no food residue)
✅ Insulated grocery bags (soft-sided coolers / foldable thermal totes)
✅ Silvery plastic padded bags often used for cold grocery delivery
Not included: Dirty or food-stained containers, broken cooler packs, or damaged bags.
Get Ready for the Upcoming ReCo Picks
Reminder: the main item goes in your ReCo Pick bag. The Bonus item is typically “bring your own bag.”
The calendar is your go-to source for all ReCo Pick information.
ReCo Picks are in addition to all the core materials The ReCollective takes each month.
REMINDER: YES, you may share your bag capacity — your friends, family, and neighbors can put materials in your ReCo bags. The one exception we ask is Batteries / Lightbulbs, since these are the most complex items for our team to manage. Feel free to share your bag capacity for Plastic Film, Textiles, Styrofoam, ReCo Picks, and more!
Help your friends recycle and repurpose too!
Sharing is a great idea for smaller households. It helps the environment by maximizing the amount of material recycled per pickup, benefiting everyone.
