This is something we get asked occasionally. YES, you may share your bag capacity — Your friends, family, and neighbors can put materials in your ReCo bags. The one exception we do ask of this is Batteries and Lightbulbs since these are the most complex items for our team to manage. Feel free to share your bag capacity for Plastic Film, Textiles, Styrofoam, ReCo Picks, and more!
We believe that sharing is more equitable for small households and will allow us to recycle the most materials per pickup, which is better for the environment!
Fill up your bags!
ReCo’s first quarter diversion numbers have been tallied! Members saved 3,549 pounds and 2,333 cubic feet of materials from the landfill! Thanks to our members for their efforts in ReCollecting! When you choose to recycle with the ReCollective, you participate in the Circular Community, which helps our environment and the Triangle.
Partner Spotlight
An estimated 600 million pairs of shoes go into landfills annually in the US! 100% of these shoes can be recycled, and most can still be reused. That’s why the ReCollective accepts shoes in the Textiles Bag, which are then given to local community organizations for reuse and Green Zone for recycling.
At the ReCollective, we continue exploring how to support our community best. With this aim in mind, and through a unique program with Got Sneakers, for April and May, all of the athletic shoes that ReCo members put in the Textile bag will be used to raise money for The Great Raleigh Cleanup! If you are not a ReCo member, or even if you are, you can also drop off your shoes for this fundraiser at Mindful Merchant in Cary!
The Great Raleigh Cleanup is a nonprofit volunteer lead organization that aims to rid Raleigh of its litter problem. Volunteer cleanup groups remove litter in high-traffic areas, trails, and streams. The Great Raleigh Cleanup also advocates for proper recycling practices, community education, and advocacy on the importance of protecting the environment.
