The ReCollective Finds Reuse for Used and New Books
Your old books have the power to inspire! Our local partners will find new homes for them, where they can support both kids and adults in the community. By passing them along, you’re helping others dive into new stories, learn, and grow.
Books should be placed in the ReCo Pick Bag during designated months.

We cannot accept books without intact covers or bindings, those with mold, water, smoke, or other damage, encyclopedias, or magazines and periodicals. Please ensure all donations meet these guidelines to help us repurpose them effectively.
How does The ReCollective recycle books?
Your books are brought back to our Durham, NC warehouse, where they are sorted into categories and then distributed to our community partners.
At The ReCollective, we recycle books across the Triangle, NC, including Durham, Raleigh, Cary, and Chapel Hill, as well as through our Almost Anything Bag Mailback program. We’re dedicated to giving your books a second life.
Books are collected through the ReCo Pick in addition to our other core hard-to-recycle materials that are collected each pickup.
