For March, The ReCollective is taking Softcover Books, Magazines, and Phonebooks in your ReCo Pick Bag. This is in addition to all the other materials we regularly accept!
What is included? Softcover Books, Magazines, Catalogs, Coloring Books, Journals, and Phonebooks.
What is NOT included? Hardcover books. Books that are in acceptable or better condition will be collected in May and given to local community organizations for reuse.
Where is it going? We partner with Orange Recycling Services in Durham. Recycled magazine paper is used to make a variety of new products, such as tissue paper, paperboard, and insulation.
The ReCollective is taking jewelry as a BONUS pick in March. Please put the jewelry in your own bag and set it beside your waterproof bag. Do not put the jewelry in your ReCo Pick bag.
What is included? Necklaces, pendants, bracelets, brooches, and earrings – this includes costume jewelry and precious metals! Yes, even broken jewelry and solo earrings!
What is NOT included? Please do not place loose beads, gems, clasps, or anything sharp in your ReCo pick bag. Jewelry can be worn and/or broken but not unsalvageable.
Where is it going? We partner with community organizations and The Scrap Exchange to give the jewelry a new life. Repurposing jewelry involves transforming existing pieces into entirely different creations. You can upcycle old pieces by combining them or altering them to make something completely new!
Get ready for the upcoming ReCo Picks!
Reminder: the main item goes in your ReCo Pick bag. The Bonus item is ‘bring your own bag.’ More information about each upcoming ReCo pick is distributed the month before the pick-up.
