Recycle Electronics
The ReCollective Recycles Electronics
137 billion pounds of e-waste are generated annually, with only 22.3% recycled properly. People in high-income countries own an average of 109 electrical devices per person, and e-waste generation has outpaced recycling by nearly five times since 2010. Improper disposal releases 128,000 pounds of mercury and 99 million pounds of toxic plastics annually, contaminating groundwater as these materials leach from landfills. At The ReCollective, we aim to address this challenge!
Electronics should be placed in the ReCo Pick Bag during designated months.

At The ReCollective, we recycle electronics across the Triangle, NC, including Durham, Raleigh, Cary, and Chapel Hill, as well as through our Almost Anything Bag Mailback program. We’re dedicated to giving your electronics a second life, whether through reuse or recycling.
Electronics are collected twice a year through the ReCo Pick in addition to our other core hard-to-recycle materials that are collected each pickup.
How does The ReCollective recycle electronics?
The ReCollective partners with Triangle Ecycling to repurpose and recycle e-waste. Triangle Ecycling’s mission is to make Durham smarter, cleaner, and more equitable through technical education internships, computer refurbishing, e-waste recycling (145 tons in 2023), and donating computers to nonprofits and students in need.
